“The only source of knowledge is experience.”Scotty Bob Morgan started flying a wingsuit after he bought a used Phoenix-Fly Phantom while he was deployed to Iraq with the U.S. military. “It didn’t fit at all and it was in McDonald’s colors,” he adds, “but I skydived it anyway and it was love at first jump.” Since then, Scotty Bob has become one of the world’s most dynamic terrain flyers and a pilot known for his legendary per-flight planning and precision flying. He has opened many wingsuit BASE routes in the U.S. and Europe, many of them “short rock drop” sites that require advanced low-speed flying skill. He says that one of his secrets to success is repeating to himself before each jump, “don’t screw this up.”He says of his chances for winning the Grand Prix are unpredictable because “I’m not that good at racing, but I make all my gates, and I can fly the crap out of a wingsuit, so I think I have a shot.” Scotty Bob also has a sense of humor as legendary as his planning and precision. When asked who he would least like to fly against in the head-to-head race, he names “Graham Dickinson, he smells really bad...like seriously, have you smelled that guy? He stinks. I bet I’ll still smell him four or five seconds after exit. My ideal opponent would be Marshall Miller. I mean, look at that smile...such good teeth – and I wonder who does his hair?” On a more serious note, Scotty Bob offer this advice to his friends and fans: “Always wear sunscreen.”
