3rd place, 2015 WWL Voss Qualifier

Live life with a smile!

I started skydiving in 1999, and started flying a wingsuit three years later. It was a joy right from the start and I got better and better, both by practicing and from my very technical, methodical, analytical approach to flying. By the time I started BASE five years ago, I already had 2,000 wingsuit jumps and more than 100 balloon jumps. That experience sure didn’t hurt, and it led to BASE being a very enjoyable path, mostly learning a lot about decision making and relaxing mentally.
Competition has always been a motivator in sports. I did compete (and win) a lot in skydiving performance and acrobatic competitions, but until this year I almost actively avoided BASE competitions because I wanted to keep my BASE jumping centered on what it was about for me: joy, relaxation and being in nature. Last year, Robert Pecnik gave me a gentle nudge to come to the WWL qualifier with the rest of the PF team, and I did surprisingly well (3rd place) using Robert’s amazing new suit, which was a huge part of that. For me, China last year was like the Norway qualifier; have fun, hang out with friends, learn from others, experience a new country and fly! That was a win going in, and finishing fourth was an amazing bonus for which I’m humbly grateful – and I hope I can improve on that performance this year.
